Sunny Stories
At a postcard fair today, a woman had a quantity of Sunny Stories' magazines. They were £1
each (original price 2d!) so I bought 6, one each from 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950 and 1951. I really
don't know anything about them so I was wondering if any of our very knowledgeable contributors could
let me know something about them.

Re: Sunny Stories
I've only got a few Sunny Stories magazines but they're lovely. They have short stories, serialisations, letters, poems and puzzles. They were published for many years - you can find out more here:

Re: Sunny Stories
Thank you very much, Anita - if you are interested in getting some more I could always get some for you at £1 each (the lady said she had about 70 at home which she had had since she was a child).

Re: Sunny Stories
I've sometimes seen some Sunny Stories at book fairs. Some were edited by Enid and others were edited by Malcolm Saville. £1 a copy seems very reasonable, Francis.

It does, doesn't it? Until you then buy all 70...

Re: Sunny Stories
Thanks, Francis. I may well be interested in some of those. I'll have a look to see which ones I've already got, and I'll get back to you.Francis wrote:Thank you very much, Anita - if you are interested in getting some more I could always get some for you at £1 each (the lady said she had about 70 at home which she had had since she was a child).

I can always get details of her name and email next month if any of you want to buy any - or even if you want to buy all 70 of them!

Re: Sunny Stories
Please do Anita - I will be happy to buy them for you. I suspect they will be from the years 1945 - 1952 when she a child. She told me she had lots of Enid Blyton books when she was young. I wonder if she still has them!

Re: Sunny Stories
£1 each is very cheap, they would normally sell for much more. I saw a Biggles Armada paperback in a charity shop in Salisbury a couple of days ago. It was struggling to stay in one piece and they had £12 on it and had stuck it in the window!! (British Heart Foundation for anyone interested!). So £1 each really is a worthwhile buy and Sunny Stories are nice little magazines.

Re: Sunny Stories
Thank you Tony - they are in very good condition too (one careful owner!). I will probably be buying some
more (for me as well as Anita)- some of the illustrations are very good.

Re: Sunny Stories
I was getting Sunny Stories during those years Francis .... you will find some familiar books serialised in them if you buy consecutive ones.

Re: Sunny Stories
I agree £1 is very very cheap! I bought most of mine at the EB Days but also bought a few from other places. Most cost me around £4.50 - £5.00. A couple cost as much as £10!

Re: Sunny Stories
I won't tell the lady that they are too cheap! I didn't realise myself that they are usually much more. She is not a book dealer but usually sells postcards and old photos.
