It's the distance for us Sally. Having made the journey to the E.B. Day and staying two nights in the area, I doubt that we'll be able to return this year.
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.
"See that? It's the black Bentley again. KMF 102!"

Sally
I would definately be able to make the 21/07 as we would be back
from holiday in Guernsey by then. My wife (Isabel) would also be
very happy to visit Old Thatch.

Unfortunately, Chick and I won't be able to make it on 21st July either, Sally. Perhaps it might be best to leave another visit to Old Thatch until next year, especially as so many people are unable to attend for various reasons this year.
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

As some can't make either the 7th or 21st and suggest we leave the visit until next year, would the majority prefer to do this? If some wish to go, I suggest we take a rain-check on whether the 7th or 21st suits those wishing to go and then confirm. It will a more informal gathering but an opportunity for a few Blyton fans to meet up and visit the beautiful Old Thatch gardens.

Re: Return to Old Thatch - 21 July 2012 - come if you can
As so few people seem to be able to come this year, I suggest an informal arrangement whereby those who wish to meet up on Saturday 21 July meet at the Spade Oak in Coldmoorholme Lane, Bourne End, at about 1.00 p.m. for lunch (it is next door) and then visit the gardens from 1400 where tea and cake is also available. I don't think we have to make a joint booking - no doubt the weather will help determine if anyone gets there. The gardens are really lovely and it is worth a visit to this area where EB spent so many years (from 1929 to 1938). It generally makes a lovely day out.
Francis, Isabel and Chloe1 seem to want to come. If other do, just come along. DavidP also mentioned he might be interested - would 21 July work for you, David?

I wish I could come.

Still trialling other writers, but will eventually go back to reading a bit of Blyton! Just too many books...
Occasionally will pop in! xx

Right, well I think I'm working the 21st of July. All day.
Never mind, it's not far for me, so I guess I can go any time!

"You're so sharp you'll cut yourself one day!" Hunchy said going to the door
"So my Mother told me that when I was two years old!" said Julian and the others giggled.

Thanks for your mail - there are obviously not enough people available to arrange an outing and so will leave it to you and Isabel to visit when you can and when the weather suits.

Thanks for your efforts Sally. Sorry not enough people
could make it. I think we will wait until other people can come - it makes
it more special somehow. Not quite the same on our own!

Thanks Sally, for trying to arrange a visit. I guess on the 12th of May we were all in a euphoric mood, and wanted the party to continue, so another meeting seemed a fantastic idea. In the cold light of the next few days, maybe people thought, "We've done that, do I really want another journey to meet up again, so soon?" I have tried to arrange things in the past, and people are full of it when first approached. Then, soon after, and as the day approaches, the excuses roll in!
Maybe it is too soon, and we did explore Old Thatch gardens only a year ago. Ah well, another time, perhaps.
