It wouldn't be linked but there would be things such as;

"For other opinions, check out this <insert link here> thread on the Enid Blyton Society Forum" and

"This article was brought to you by <insert name here> and can be viewed on EBS."

Sort of linking BACK to the forum.

It wouldn't take anything away from Tony's wonderful work on the journal, but the blog might help pull in some more enthusiasts!

And there isn't any harm in giving the idea a TRIAL run is there?

No harm at all. As I say, I wasn't criticizing anything, just didn't understand how it would work, that's all. :)

The topics you've suggested sound interesting, Stef. You're always welcome to start such discussions here if you like (e.g. comparing the Famous Five TV episodes could come under "Blyton on TV" - though the recent Five Get Into Trouble watchathon where we did something similar didn't attract many participants!) However, I can see that a blog might be better if you want to reflect on things without people interrupting or digressing, or if you want to use certain layouts that aren't available on the forums.

See thats why I was wondering whether it might be better to have a sort of "set" opinion and have one main thought process to discuss the points raised in there?

I know I would be welcome to start discussions on here Anita, apart from the fact that I'm very very sure that people are sick to death of my posts on the TV series, especially the 90s thread.

I don't know about layouts per se, and it's hard to know what sort of interest the members of the forum would give the blog, and if it would do as I've suggested and entice more people on to the forum. And I'm guessing it will be quite hard to come up with new material constantly, unfortunately unlike with a magazine, it would be very silly to store up everything for a certain date because things would get overlooked.

I guess if I do start this up, it would be good (and perferred) to have at least one new blog post a week, of course, taking into account what Tony has mentioned before in regards to having enough submissions to fill the journal, I don't know how sustainable the blog would be, which is why I would propose a trial of maybe three or four months to see how things go.

*Shrugs*

We'll see.

We could have one thread on the forums about the blog, and that'd contain the link to it, and presumably each time a new piece went on the blog the thread would be updated to let the forumites know.

Opinions on each piece could be left in the blog comments, but the thread could be used to suggest ideas for blog pieces.

And contain a little discussion on the piece maybe?

Sounds like a resonable idea!

So, if we're going to set up a blog, does anyone have any suggestions for a name?

How's about letting Poppy decide on a title, as she started the thread. Just a thought! :D

I don't mind about the title. How about having a few ideas posted here then we can make a poll and set it for a few days. We can then let other members vote-then we can see which title has won? Agreed? :D

Ideas:
(Below)
"Beware of young men with long hair - that's what dad says, isn't it?"
Pat, Holiday House

I'm sure we don't need a poll for this.

We'll just see which idea sticks more!

2. The Blog of Adventure (Poppy Hutchinson)
3. PHAT Blog (pete90125)
