Favourite Enid Blyton character thread
I'm asking this question because the search facility doesn't appear to be working.
I've been trying to find out whether there is a favourite EB character poll/thread on the forums. I thought there was, but I can't find one. There are lots of similar sounding threads ie.favourite baddie, series, book within a series etc, but I can't find one relating to what might have been a more obvious question/poll.
I should add that I don't want to start such a thread, or vote on one - I'm simply interested to know who would be in the top ten, for example. Also I'm more interested to know which characters Blyton fans favour (an informed choice), rather than the opinions of the general public (a lot of whom may only be familiar with the series/characters mentioned in the recent Booktrust 20 list).
Grateful for advice/views!

Re: Favourite Enid Blyton character thread
I tried doing searches on "favourite," "best" and "Fatty," one at a time, but I'm afraid the search facility wouldn't accept any of those words. I'm not sure why?
Edit: I just did a search on "Trent," thinking that Jack Trent would have popped up in such a thread. It worked, and I found the following:

Eva Rice gave a personal top ten at Blyton Day a couple of years ago. Since she'd just written a Blyton Who's Who her opinions were quite interesting - I think Darrell was top.

ps Did anyone else in UK see Unreported World tonight on Channel 4. It was about the ongoing flooding situation in Bangladesh, with glimpses of central Dhakar. I've become far more interested when Bangladesh is mentioned on TV now that I know someone who lives there!

Many thanks Anita. And thanks Viv too.
I got so frustated with the search facility. 'Favourite' didn't work. Even 'Blyton' came up with nothing!
Even though it wasn't exactly an exhaustive list of views, it confirmed my impression re. Fatty.

Re: Favourite Enid Blyton character thread
One of the things I've been looking for here, so far unsuccessfully, is a Major Blyton Characters Thread, where discussions/comparisons between her better-known characters can be made outside the framework of the book or series each character appeared in.
And now to really show my ignorance:
I'm sure that somewhere there's a listing of all EB's characters, but does anyone know where one can find a character list which is split into categories such as:

- children;
grown-ups;
quasi-humans; &
non-humans?

I don't think we've had a thread like that, Aurélien. Please feel free to start one if you like. I think the nearest we've come to it is a thread comparing Julian Kirrin and Fatty.Aurélien wrote:One of the things I've been looking for here, so far unsuccessfully, is a Major Blyton Characters Thread, where discussions/comparisons between her better-known characters can be made outside the framework of the book or series each character appeared in.

Sorry, Anita, but
I don't know enough
to be able to make a good start with a new Blyton Characters thread.

Re: Favourite Enid Blyton character thread
I wouldn't worry about it for now, then. But as you read the books, if you come across characters that you feel it would be interesting to compare/contrast, you could start off a discussion.

Thanks, Anita. Hmm, a 20-year project, if I live that long....as you read the books, if you come across characters that you feel it would be interesting to compare/contrast, you could start off a discussion.
