The Mystery of the Strange Messages

Post by Moonraker »

We couldn't get in! Was Tony, Keith, Matt and Zoe having a midnight feast and didn't want to be disturbed? Panic stations.

Strange messages appeared,

Warning: main(./includes/acm/acm_file.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /htdocs/www/forums/common.php on line 173

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required './includes/acm/acm_file.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /htdocs/www/forums/common.php on line 173

then

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /htdocs/www/forums/index.php on line 21

Just as Ming was about to fly over, they came back.

All is well in the world, again.

A got those strange messages too. A very queer business. :?

Congratulations, Ming, on passing 2,000 posts. I think you must be the first to achieve that. Come on Nigel, do buck up!

'Course not!

Actually, I tried to update the software using phpBB's most helpful auto updater. Turns out it's a pile of crap. I shall have to manually update the forums in future.

I had been trying to log in for almost half an hour but all those messages came. Finally the problem is resolved :D

And congrats Ming :D

I think it will take me ages to reach my 2000th post
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.

When once the itch of literature comes over a man, nothing can cure it but the scratching of a pen.

A lot of good that would have done you (but it would have been nice to see you!), I also tried to look at the forums and couldn't get in, I didn't have a clue what was happening!

One day you will realise that what I say about websites is true, if anything goes wrong there's only one thing that I am able to do - email either Keith or Matt!

That would have done me a lot of good - I would be able to delve into your books again! 8)

And of course meeting you and Barney again. :D

When I tried to get in to the Forums page from the links on the left side of Home page, this message reappeared:

Warning: main(./includes/acm/acm_file.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /htdocs/www/forums/common.php on line 173

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required './includes/acm/acm_file.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /htdocs/www/forums/common.php on line 173

But when I clicked on the recent posts link on the Home page, I got through easily.

Is it a problem with my computer?

I was right in the middle of a browsing session when it happened. I clicked Board Index and got the Sorry - This board is currently unavailable message. gave me a bit of a shock but, as always, our team comes up trumps again and we're back online. :D

That string will never be the same again!
This is a Green Knight Book which means that it is a book by one of the most popular authors of all.

Yes, hearty congrats, Ming! Rowan, Ming is the new leader. I won't overtake her again! Mind you, the number of posts some people make now, (86 posts in 3 days from one of us!) it won't be long before Ming is in second place.

As I've said before, it is the quality of posts that are important, so a double well-done, Ming!Image

Cheers, Nigel!

If I do go down to the second, I won't mind at all. I'll still remember those words of yours - quality is better than quantity! I know I am guilty of posting a lot myself (sometimes stupidly) - but let's face it, 28 posts per day must mean a lot of nonsense, doesn't it? And I'd like to make "quality" posts, even if I have to go down the list of "quantity"!

Some people will have a thousand messages within a month!
