Question.

I went to "Find a Member" and there are various ways to search. The drop-down menu lists:
  • Username
    Location
    Joined Date
    Postcount
    Email
    Website
    ICQ
    AIM
    MSMN/WLM
    YIM
    Jabber
    Rank
What on earth is "jabber"? And "MSNM/WLM"? :?

Incidentally, searching by ranks, I see I am no.2 after the admins and moderators. 8) Nigel's no.1

Jabber: is best known as "the Linux of instant messaging" - Linux's equivalent to MSNM

MSNM: Microsoft Net Messaging (I think)

WLM: Windows Live Messaging

Okay, so that I don't have to start several topics I have edited the subject title and now am adding my question.

When I get PMs, usually I got an email notification as soon as the new window pops up to tell me about the PM. From yesterday, I get the emails at least 20 minutes later. Any idea what is happening? Anyone else having the same prob? I think one of my PMs didn't go through too. :?

I am having that problem with PMs, too, Ming. For instance, I have just had a PM from Tony, but the notification email hasn't gone through yet.

I will look into it. :)

It's a nightmare contacting Tony. 50% of emails don't get to him, and my last PM never arrived either. It's a good job he only lives up the road!

That is fortunate!

Is anyone experiencing problems with PMs? Nigel, could you try to send another PM and let me know if it works?

These are all teething troubles, but I am sure we'll get it sorted out. It doesn't help that I am currently experiencing computer problems. My laptop's hard drive crashed on me last night.

I don't why this problem returned - just two PMs ago the email got through at once, but the email for the third PM went through after 20 minutes!

It's an odd thing. I don't quite know what to make of it. I think Keith would perhaps know more about this, so I shall try to remember to ask him.

Dear Ming,
Just to say that I've only recently become a registered member of The Enid Blyton Society but I've been reading her books ever since I can remember, which is a LONG time. I always say that I went to university because Enid Blyton awoke a life-long passion for literature in me.
I was very touched by your article in this Summer's Journal about your time in "Blytonland". Well done - and your very own adventure!

Oooooh! Welcome o the forums Fiona. Make yourself at home; we are a jolly friendly group! :D

Thank you, Ming and Almas! Do your friends at home like Enid Blyton too?

H-E-L-P regarding PMs.

Nigel sent me a BCC to a PM (two, actually, one a few weeks back!) but I never got them. Not in my inbox, no email notification - nothing.

It's almost as of he hasn't sent me anything!

Can anyone give me a little advice.

It's regarding sending a PM. I'm not really sure on how to go about this. I have sent one or two that I don't think have arrived.

Can anyone give me the basics of how to go about it. Do I start off with going into my own User Control Panel, or do I have to find the person I want and go into their information. Forgive my being a little naive, but I'm not as familiar with computors, internet etc, as most of the members.
