New Layout - Your Comments
A place for your comments and feelings about the new look
Personally I am unsure of the colour - looks cold compared with the lovely reds and having PHPBB at the top rather than the society picture isn't as nice, thou I expect Matt will change this...
Not had a proper look round yet, so will comment further when had a poke.

Dreadful. Sorry i dont like it at all, can we have our old one back please? I suppose I might get used to it but as Zoe said the old colour scheme was nice and warm and we had the beautiful picture collage across the top, this feels like a corporate company's financial forum.

Hmmm, the new board certainly has a few new features and no doubt security has been improved. However, I cannot get used to the blue colour scheme, it seems to clash with the rest of the site. Can it not be tweaked to give a more homely feel?
BTW, Will the last ten postings continue to be displayed on the EBS homepage? This feature does not appear to be working at the moment.

I am supposed to be testing this for another forum I mod on .. it's meant to have lots of good features. I don't much care what the colour scheme of a place is as long as I can read things . Anything light is fine with me. I presume though that it won't be that tricky to restore the old colour scheme.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.

I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Honestly, I don't really like it that much. The old one was so nice and homely that this one really seems so, cold.
I miss the old one already.

I agree with LS - to me the two tones of blue aren't quite different enough, as well as being cold.
I'll reserve judgement for a few days - me and technology always take a while to get acquainted!
Thanks Matt

OT.
It's good to see that Who Is Online is updated every second, instead of every few minutes. And we can see the "Bots" online too!

I don't feel that it has the charm of the old layout. Do like being able to see the bots, but it seems pretty cold to me. But then, I am rubbish with change...

It does feel a bit back to front because the "Author" of the post is on the right.
Still, I think I should appreciate the new features - obviously the Tiresome Three has worked hard to set it up.

Thanks, chaps. Always nice when one's efforts are appreciated. (Irony? Me?)
No, you can't have the old one back. This is the latest, most secure and up-to-date version of phpBB. I haven't changed the layout; I have changed the forum software. This happens to be the default layout for the phpBB 3 package, and I haven't yet had time to adapt the red theme for this version. The first theme of the old forum was a cold blue until I created the now familiar red, incidentally.
Might I point you to this post in "Admin Announcements" in which I say:

I thought you would all like the new features, and I know Tony and I will appreciate the new security and anti-spam measures included in this new version.I am just getting to grips with the software myself, and I am looking into creating a new, more Blytonian theme for the forums at some point, too.

Do you mean the layout or the look? I can put up with the layout forever, but I miss the old look.Matthew Roberts wrote:No, you can't have the old one back.
Not "pressurizing" Matt - take your time to do anything.
BTW, I love the new features!

Re: New Layout - Your Comments
Until I saw this string, I thought the different colour and layout was due to the fact I've logged in on my work laptop while in Brussels. It was only when I came across this string that I became aware of what had happened. Presumably there is something on the front page about it?
Like everyone else I can't abide the colour.
It's dificult to comment on the layout until the colour is back!
If the new layout has extra features then I suppose one shouldn't complain, and be happy to keep up with progress. And I do appreciate your efforts/intentions, Matt.
The only thing I've noticed that I don't like is the 'phpBB creating communities' logo - but presumably we're stuck with that?

A problem I've just had is that I can't get back to the 'view posts since last visit page'.
Has something been changed please or is it just some sort of random computer problem?

And the 'Home page' link at the top right hand corner seems to have disappeared completely - I tend to use all the time.

If you go to the Index VS, there's a link View new posts. If you mean you can't return to the page - what's the back button on your browser for?
