Re: New Layout - Your Comments

Now the new-look forum has been running for a few days, I must say I really like it now. The old header is back, the spammers are largely gone, and thanks to Anita and her postcards - I'm getting used to the avatars on the right.

Talking of avatars, how come an old forum-dog like you, Moose, hasn't put one up?

Yes, I agree - the layout is looking much better now, especially with the banner back. Thanks Matt and his merry helpers.

I was so excited to see the favourite book and character option available - so I promptly went and adjusted my profile too. Nice work Matt - a great idea!!! :D

Do I care? No! :D

Battles and wars not allowed here! (I suppose that means we're gonna be banished from the Society soon and have to form our own  ) I shouldn't say this 'cos this is a huge part of my life!

Me as a foe, eh? Fine, go ahead! I'll add you to mine.

Yes, thanks, that's great! We've also got the quick links to the latest ten posts back again, which is good.

No problem! Keith is a bit busy at the moment, so I took a look at the main site and had a fiddle around with the code.

I am glad you think the "Home" link is in a good place, Ming. Keith and I were unsure where it went best, so it might move around a bit. We'll see.

Hmm. I think the Home link needs to be more dominant, somehow. It seems a bit lost in a line with other links. I would like to see it immediately underneath the The Enid Blyton Society logo - really dominant! After all, it is such an important link.

Incidentally, what does Do not automatically parse URLs mean? :?

You might have noticed that when posting URLs these days, they are shortened like this:

Code: Select all

http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/forums/view.........101.php
or something like that. I presume "Do not automatically parse URLs" displays the whole URL. :)

Helpful for long URLs!

The place is looking great now. Thaks to all who have obviously worked very hard to make it so. I would probably site the Home link up beside the search boxes, I agree with Moonraker that it is a very important link.

If you have a scanner you can scan the picture you want and resize it to not larger than 100 x 100 pixels (on my computer that simply involves clicking on "edit pictures," then pressing a "resize" button and following instructions, but I'm not sure if that's standard.) Save your resized picture on your computer and then go to USER CONTROL PANEL, then PROFILE, then EDIT AVATAR. Click BROWSE to find your picture, then SUBMIT.

Hope that helps!
