Francis wrote:Julie - I did encourage him a lot. From what he was saying he has a lot of
information and insights on Enid in the 1930s. He has helped produce a book
on Bourne End which includes something about Enid and 'Old Thatch'. He
has a very good Bourne End postcard collection showing views from the
Edwardian Era onwards.
He would probably make a very good speaker at any Enid Blyton Day, with such information and insights on Enid in the 30's. I'd love to listen to what he has to say.

Francis - Like Julie, I also think the guy you met at your Postcard meeting would be hugely interesting to talk to or hear from. Not everyone enjoys public speaking and is good at it, but it would be great to encourage him to share his information or join us on our 2013 day. If you meet him again, no doubt you will find out more like a true find-outer! What is the title of his book? What was his mother's view of Enid? Did he actually visit Old Thatch and when? If you can obtain an email address, Tony may wish to contact him directly. Can't wait to hear more.
I keep looking at this posting to see if anything else has been put forward for an E.B. Day 2013, and all I'm reading is how to stay young!
Thank heavens that Sally has brought it back on subject. I would love to hear this man speaking at an E.B. Day, Francis. You may have to buy him 'lashings of gingerbeer' and persuade him!

Every time I come to this thread there is about 2 more pages added to it... Please could someone give me a quick conclusion to what's going on so I don't have to read 12 pages?!

1. Tony says there are no plans for an EB day in 2013
2. We've sort of settled on June 15th for a group of us to go around Beckenham and look at several houses Enid lived in though there are absolutely no definite plans made for this yet.
and that's about it.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.
Thanks Fiona, so there will probably not be an EB day next year, and instead might be a little gathering at some of Enid's houses... But no definate plans made yet! Would the gathering be in Dorset do you think or if not- where?

I said in my last post - Beckenham, which is an area in the south of London.

Our next postcard meeting will be in April and when I see him I will try not to frighten our
Bourne End expert too much. He did say he would visit the Forum so I will
see if he has done so. I will also try and find out a lot more information and then
try to remember it!
Hmm.... Yes, my school year starts June 1, so I can't come to Beckenham because then we need to plan a trip near UK.. we aren't going to come back to UK for a trip so soon...
