Journal 78
I was pleasantly surprised when my Summer Journal 78 dropped through the letterbox today.
I look forward to reading it later today.

We (including neighbours) haven't had any post since Monday - goodness knows what the problem is.

Well that crept up and sprang out of nowhere. Looking forward to reading this in the garden over the weekend.

A trip to the local sorting office and brought home a pile of mail - including the Journal! Apparently, loads of postmen are off sick....

Re: Journal 78
Journal 78 certainly snuck under the radar a bit. Some of our more eagle eyed forumites usually announce it several weeks in advance. It was however a great surprise and pleasure to read about it this morning and then come home this evening to find it lying prone on the mat; prostrate under the weight of all the goodies it looks to contain. I shall get to grips with it over the coming days.

Re: Journal 78
Well so far I've read up to page 39. I must congratulate all the contributions. In Praise of Ern brought back memories and gave me a new insight. John Pickup managed the impossible - to make me want to dig out my collection of Secret Sevens! Tim Venning brought together an insight to various locations that must have inspired Enid's FF stories. And Anita managed to get me reading, with enthusiasm, about pixies. I'd have put money on that never happening! I too found school sports painful and watching the girls making daisy chains helped to pass the time.

Whoops, I must have touched the phones screen and lost my new (attempted) post. In summary this is the first society journal that I've read every word of - and many thanks to all the contributors from me. Well done everyone.

It's good to know I'm not the only non-sporty Blytonite! Actually, I did like badminton and gymnastics but not athletics or team games.

Alongside the Cave, the Journal is the jewel in the society's crown. I'm quite busy at the moment but I hope to start reading it before we go on holiday at the weekend.

Re: Journal 78
I am enjoying the contents of the latest journal very much and am reading it a bit at a time to prolong the pleasure. So far I've enjoyed John Pickup's article very much and am looking forward to reading more. I tend to pick and choose, so don't necessarily read the articles in the order they are printed. I found David Chambers "Uncharted Beginnings" really fascinating. What a dedication to research! I'm looking forward to reading more.

I haven't received mine yet... Tony, has my subscription run out again without me realising it?? I thought I paid it only a few months ago, but time does fly when we're having fun...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
