Journal 72 may be with us shortly, no details on what treats are inside but the cover picture is stunning. It made me smile inside the moment I saw it, just what I needed with the covid hullabaloo still hanging over us.

I love the Journal covers. They always seem to suit the time or season perfectly. 72 is no different and I expect the contents will be just as ravishing.

The pictures aren't actually part of a book. They're posters designed to be put up in schools, as Two Years in the Infant School was written for teachers to use in the classroom. They really do look stunning and, like others, I love this Journal cover.

I honestly don't know what they're worth, Pete, but you get a lot of pages for your money. Most of the pieces are very short though, as they're aimed at children aged around 5 - 7. Sadly, the posters are not part of the set.

That cover's rather reminds me of the periodic summer warning from our Head Master not to raid the apple orchard next to school which inevitably someone did.

Given the posts been a bit queer with losing two days for things from the regional sorting office in Wolverhampton in the south of the County to make their way to the district office in Stoke North, I'll keep my eye out for it.

My copy has arrived too, a smashing summer treat for some more al fresco reading in the garden. I've only read Tony's editorial so far and was sad to see that Imogen Smallwood died in February, I shall read Norman Wright's tribute to her first. I am pleased to see an article on Mary Gernat, one of my favourite illustrators, how well I remember all those Armada paperback covers from my childhood, and so many other tasty looking articles including Rob Houghton''s latest 'recipe' from his cookery book. Thanks to all contributors and especially to Tony for putting it all together.

Mine has just arrived too and looks superb as always. I was surprised and very saddened to read of Imogen Smallwood's passing. I had not known of it. I am rather surprised that no mention of it was made on these forums. The passing of Gillian Baverstock certainly was. I only managed to speak to Imogen once at an EBS day but she was extremely kind and gracious. I too shall read Norman Wright's article first.
