My Journal has just dropped through the letterbox just in time for me to take it away with me as I'm off for a short break in the West Country. It looks perfect summer holiday reading.
I always read Tony's editorial first and was sad to see that Pam Ally has died, I remember seeing her at the last Enid Blyton day.

I'd also publicly like to thank Tony for the trouble he went to for my article..
Thank Tony?? - We've got to read your article!!!!
(Hopes emoticons can get me out of this one!!!)
Pete, you are awful, but I like you! (Hope you're old enough to understand that quotation!)
And Rob, yes, Tony has done your article proud with the illustrations. I enjoyed reading about all the short stories you have enjoyed and have even decided to read more of the collections I possess!

Mine's come too! Many thanks again to Tony for all his work in putting it together.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Thank you Daisy - I'm glad you've been inspired to read more short stories!

I haven't had chance to read much of the Journal - mainly Tony's editorial - always the place I start, as well as my own article, which I always read with a super-critical eye - and then Anita's article about Five Are Together Again. What a super article this is - and I enjoyed it immensely. I agree with everything Anita says about this book, which is certainly one of the weakest in the series, but also I feel tinged with sadness, not just because its the last Famous Five book (after all, we can soon go back and start the series again!) but because it shows clear signs of Enid's diminishing skills - and even more so when we factor in the original manuscript, which Anita was lucky enough to be able to peruse.
I think this is a brilliant idea for a Journal article - and would love to see others comparing the finished book with the original manuscript. This really gave it an extra dimension, and I would go so far as to say it is one of the best articles I've ever read in any Journal. brilliant stuff! Is it possible you might write more such comparisons in the future, Anita?

Mine has arrived but I haven’t had a chance to read any of it yet. It looks great as always though.

Mine arrived yesterday and I have started reading it straight away! So happy with it!
Reading Anita's article made me really sad, when I learnt about Enid Blyton's dementia, I have a feeling I now love "Five are Together Again" so much more!

John, sometimes the Royal Mail is faster than the German mail and things from the UK have arrived within 4 or 5 days. Usually amazon (especially when sent from Fife in Scotland) gets here in less than a week.
Rob just sent me "The Secret of Spiggy Holes" and it arrived yesterday on the same day with the EBS Journal.
I think he posted it last Saturday (?). So that was really quick.
Just read Julie's article "What Enid Blyton Means To Me" and loved it!
Beautiful memories.

Absolutely agree Rob, Anita’s article was absolutely fantastic and it would be nice if the entire series could receive the same treatment, assuming the manuscripts are available?
I’ve only read a couple of articles so far but have scheduled sometime on Friday to devour the rest!
