Love the bluebell fairy on the cover, even if her dress is more royal blue than real bluebell blue! :D  Thanks in advance, Tony, for all the work you've put into this — it does look like a treat and I'm sure it will be as enjoyable as ever.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

:D I was wondering when someone would notice that the next Journal was on the Journal page. I looked last week and saw it was all ready there, but didn't say anything. ;-) It looks a super issue as always and the cover is gorgeous! :D
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

Lol

I didn't like to mention the new Journal because I know Tony prefers comments AFTER its delivery rather than before. ;-)

Mine's arrived too, and I've just started enjoying it over lunch! :D Thanks to all the contributors in advance, and Tony of course for putting it all together.

So far I've really enjoyed Rob's latest EB recipe and Part 2 of Anita's review of Five on a Treasure Island. I was particularly interested and impressed with what you had to say about Anne, Anita — it's years since I last read the book and I'd forgotten that she really does show a lot more character and nuance than a lot of us tend to imagine. I could relate to Anne when I first read the FF books — not that I liked cooking and cleaning, but I knew very well that although I would have liked to be strong and brave like George, if a real adventure did come along, I'd probably be more scared than thrilled and would be happy to leave the really dangerous parts of it to the boys!

Also enjoyed The Unlucky Feather and have just been dipping into Winifried Secker's article on Enid Blyton's popularity in Germany. I remember a few years ago, a German colleague at work was delighted to hear I was a fan of Enid Blyton, as she grew up on the Famous Five books in German and loved them too. She had married an English speaker and her own children grew up reading Enid Blyton in English, but she said her son had recently started reading them in German to help him learn the language! :D

My journal arrived this morning, (thank you, Tony), and I'm halfway through reading it.

I love the front cover, a lovely colourful illustration by Hilda Boswell. :)

I always turn to Tony's Editorial first, then went on to read Part 6 of Roberts article. I liked this article and found it an excellent read. Robert once wrote that we - him and myself, don't always see eye to eye. But you're wrong where mystery books are concerned Robert. The books mentioned in this article I love them all as you do. Detective John, whom I wrote about in Journal number 50. The Find-Outers. One of my very favourites The Treasure Hunters, The Boy Next Door, and the Lonely Old House. All great stories, and an extremely interesting Journal article for me to read.

I then went on to read A Letter from Enid - No 26. Very interesting article. Then I read Tim Venning's article of the film series of the Famous Five. Another great read for me, loving the DVD's of the late 70's. Interesting too that the loco used in the filming of Camp was sold to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. I'm off to the I.O.W again at the end of April, and will now make a point of looking for this engine on the Steam Railway over there.

I then read the article on Smuggler's Top by William E Ferguson, and found that a great read too. Lovely colourful back pictures of Noddy toys, but not into Noddy sadly. :)

I will continue with the rest of the Journal this evening. Great articles so far. Thanks to all the contributors.

Yes, I always read the editorial first. I thought Tony was referring to his own birthday initially, but quickly realised he was talking about another well loved character!

I've had to reign myself in, as I want to take the Journal on holiday with me tomorrow and enjoy it whilst I'm away, but I have to admit I have had a quick sneak peek at some of the articles... :D
