Best audiobook productions of Enid Blyton Books?

Post by misomiso82 »

I remember when I was younger I loved some of the audiobooks, but recent productions don't seem nearly as good, and I was wondering if anybody wanted to recommend which of the audiobooks they really enjoyed.

For example, I loved the Shadow the Sheepdog adaptation, and the Sarah Greene version of 'Five go to Finnestan Farm' I always remembered as very good.

Are there any other exceptional audiobook or audioplay adaptations? Are there any very good modern versions?

Many thanks

I love Good Old Secret Seven Enid Blyton Audiobook Abridged audio dramatization (1998)
which may be on youtube.

Also, although she does Blyton and also none Blyton dramatizations, I find Judi Hughes hard to beat:

I read Enid Blyton in the 1970s/very early 1980s and audiobooks weren't so popular at the time, though I did have a couple of non-Blyton storytellings on LP (Anna Sewell's Black Beauty and a selection of Hans Andersen's fairy tales).

The Famous Five audiobooks read by Jan Francis are very good. They are the book being read by a pleasant reader, which is exactly what I want, not a full cast dramatization. They are about 4 hours long, or a bit longer. If you see audiobooks that are much shorter than that, then you can assume they are abridged.

I listened to a bit and it does sound good.
I must listen to all of it and maybe some of the others.
But why would Noddy be at Smuggler's Top without my knowledge I wonder? :)
