Daffodil Flower Book
Does anybody have a copy in a dust jacket? The original Gifford version not Latimer. I've got around to reading mine and discovered the jacket was in a terrible state as someone has taped it all up on the back, front and into a clear cover . I'm trying to repair it but can't find a picture to fill in the missing bits. Anybody got a photo of how it should look please?

IceMaiden, If you put Gifford into the search in the Cave you can bring up a lovely photo of the cover you are looking for.

Yes, this is the lovely pic from the cave:

Oops I should have said, it's the spine and back of the design I need, the front is fairly ok . Specifically the bottom of the spine and the top left corner of the back which is the top of a tree but it's missing entirely so I don't know where the branches should go.

I couldn't find any other pictures in the end so I filled it in with what I thought would be there as best as I could. Here's a before picture after removing all the tape from the back:
And after some restoring:
I managed to save some of the flower fairy on the spine but nothing else and I couldn't remove the tape from the front so it'll have to do, but other than that I'm really pleased with it. It's better than it was at any rate .

Superb! Well done, IceMaiden. Do you know how long that took you to do?

Re: Daffodil Flower Book
Surprisingly not as long as I first thought it would BB. It took me an entire morning to remove all the tape as I was peeling it off painstakingly slow for fear of the whole think just ripping apart. Every bit that came off weakened it more and by the time I'd removed it there was about two strands holding the left flap and spine on. An hour after that to fix up the back, as careful as I was the tape pulled off the top layer on the back leaving it seriously thin and weak, so I had to re do it. I must then have spent about 5 or 6 hours afterwards to do the front. Trying to match the colour so it blends with the original and the age related staining takes ages!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
