Modern Teaching Junior School Edition 4 volumes

Post by Jomo »

I have managed to locate Modern Teaching, Junior school Edition 4 volumes in what appears to be excellent condition from the accompanying photographs.
I am amazed  at what I’ve found and awaiting advice on the postage costs with bated breath.
I’ll share the news with you as soon as the sale is transacted.
Cross fingers everyone!

Sounds intriguing, Jomo. I've never seen Modern Teaching.

Sounds a good purchase.

I have heard of the Modern Teaching books, but not sure if I've actually seen them 'in the flesh' as it were, or maybe just in The Cave or on E-bay.

The set I’m interested in is in South Africa and seems to be in pristine condition, at the moment though my purchase looks to be in doubt as the cost of getting them posted may be prohibitive.
To me the books look absolutely fascinating, with specially written stories and lots of handwork to go with each part of the curriculum.

A sample from the ‘History’ section:
King Alfred—he who burnt the cakes, next took to burning candles
Inserted them in lant horns (ancient lanterns without handles)
And coloured the wax In blues and blacks
And green and yellow and red Which thus divided the Time of Day
The Time to Work The Time to Pray
The Time to Feast The Time to Play
And the Time to go to Bed

I’ll have to sell the rest of my books to make room!

Actually the Modern Teaching books are not a done deal yet - the cost of sending them from South Africa is turning out to be problematic.

Jomo, as it's a pretty straight route from SA to Melbourne, and t's summertime, maybe the seller can get somebody to row them across for you. :D :D ;)

Sorry, I don't have a boat, Jomo. However, I used to build them before I retired - though not rowing boats, just yachts.
