Confession time: how long has it been since your last Blyton book?
In the movies and on TV troubled souls always enter the confessional with the words “Father it has been 3 months since my last confession,” (or however long it has been).
So what I want to know is how long it has been since you last read an Enid Blyton book? I can’t promise you the confidentiality of a priest but I’ll try to absolve your sins!
I used to read lots of Blytons but now I can go weeks between them (sometimes longer!).
The last time I read one for myself was the 10th-15th of May when I read Five on a Secret Trail. (I’m not counting the TV novelisation of The Island of Adventure which I read more recently).
Since then I read Noddy Goes to Toyland and the first story in Naughty Amelia Jane to Brodie.
Over to you lot, now.

Not something I'm very guilty of I don't think.
Even if I'm reading another author, I'd probably have an Enid Blyton book of short stories, such as a holiday annual, or one of the 'o'clock' books on the go too, so I could dip into that if I didn't have the time to read a whole chapter of say an Agatha Christie. Also, sometimes if I've got something more 'heavy' as my main book, such as a biography, I like to balance it out with something light and familiar such as I'd find among the short stories.

Great question for members of an Enid Blyton forum!
I read quite a few books at the same time which my wife thinks is crazy.
Apart from two or three books by modern authors, I'm currently reading albeit quite slowly;
Five Get Into Trouble (Soper)
Five Have A Mystery To Solve (Maxey)
Five Are Together Again (Maxey)
I'm also reading through my Sunny Stories magazines and some Enid Blyton Magazines too.

Re: Confession time: how long has it been since your last Blyton book?
Since late April/early May I have been unable to read any of my Blyton books (or any of my other books for that matter) as I decided to undertake a most necessary complete renovation of my office (repainting/wallpapering, new carpet/floor covering etc), which also houses my library, CDs, DVDs and my calligraphy desk. The first task was clearing the bookcases, shelves and work areas, which is now more or less finished and the contents are stored in about 50 cardboard boxes in the basement. However, since then I have been overwhelmed with work and the garden also requires a great deal of time and attention, with the result that progress has ground to a halt, which is frustrating. However, hopefully we will get to grips with it soon and a friend of my husband said he would help us with moving the furniture etc. After that digression I have to say that under normal circumstances I am a bit like Katherine...even if I am reading something else I will have several Enid Blyton books on hand to dip into from time to time.

I last read an Enid Blyton book in April this year. It was Good Old Secret Seven which is one of my favourites from that series when Jack and Susie receive a telescope. Before that it was The Secret Of Cliff Castle, probably a month before that. To be honest, they are the only two Blyton books I've read this year so far.

I read The Children of Kidillin, a few weeks back. Not read that book for a number of years, so I thought I'd bring it out and give it a long needed read.
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned... I'm on a Jane Austen kick at the moment and haven't picked up a Blyton since some time last year.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Hope you manage to finish sorting out your office soon, Boodi.
The last Enid Blyton book I read, a couple of months ago, was Fifth Formers of St. Clare's. I have read a few of her short stories and 'From My Window' articles since then though.

Re: Confession time: how long has it been since your last Blyton book?
I started "The Secret Island" at the end of May and in June have read the rest of the series plus the 2 Six Cousins books. So the last Enid Blyton was read from June 12th - 14th, - just about 2 weeks ago.

I don't read them so often, as I know them quite well. I think the last one was Five go adventuring again, a month or two ago.
I suddenly get the urge to read one, so it isn't usually planned.
I read all the school books last year.

so do I, as it is not pleasant working here amid empty bookcases and surrounded by the cardboard boxes that have not been transported to the basement yet. You reminded me that I also read the 'From My Window' articles on a regular basis and really enjoy them.

I am currently 'about' six chapters into 'The Mystery of the Burnt Cottage' - but not reading. I started listening to the audio book last night in bed - before nodding off. I shall now have to find the last bit I remembered hearing - hence my 'about'.

OK so Katherine, Barnard, Pete, and BB you all go to the top of the Sunday School class and get a gold star each.
Daisy, Julie, Lenoir and Anita keep up the good work!
Boodi you've got a good excuse so I'll let you off this time.
John P and Courtenay... tut tut. I think you need to say your Hail Blytons tonight! Ten for John and ohhh at least a hundred for Courtenay!
