Yes, I agree. I think if I'd consumed that amount of food as a child I'd have been constantly sick!black labrador wrote:What strikes me about food in Blyton books is the sheer volume. Three or four meals a day, cooked breakfasts, 2 or 3 course lunches, teas and dinners, and plenty of snacks and ice creams.

Most people are nowhere near as active as the FF (and most of the other children) were in the books. Swims most mornings, walks with dogs, long bike rides, climbing trees, long walks, horse rides, rowing boats, tobogganing, running away from enemies lol
The physical activities for one day in the FF probably wouldn't be achieved in a week by most kids these days.

I just wonder if "sick" is your try to sound like a German .Katharine wrote:

I knew a lady who refused to eat tongue because of where it had been.kirstleecurry wrote:Stephen... I feel your pain! I actually liked tongue as a child, before I realised that it actually was... you know... TONGUE! I remember seeing it in a butchers once and being totally horrified!
Funnily enough, she was OK with eating oxtail soup ...

I've always liked salt & shake crisps because you could leave the salt out of them! Most ready salted crisps are far too salty for me though Aldi make some lovely sea salted hand cooked ones.
Most of the foods in the books sound delicious, with the exception of tongue which quite frankly sounds heave-worthy.
