BORSTAL for FREDERICK ROSS!!

Post by jstevens1 »

Hi everyone!

I have just read The Six Bad Boys with interest.

The fate of Frederick Ross, Ringleader of The Six Bad Boys, who was 15 years old at the time of conviction for persistent theft/incitement of others to commit theft and receiving stolen goods (in other words, a Bob Fagin type character) made some grim reading at The Juvenile Court. Fred was sent to an approved school for 3 years as he had a previous conviction for this sort of thing.

If you click on the link below, Fred's punishment is the most severe of the Six Bad Boys because as soon as he turned 16, he could be transferred to a Borstal to serve the remaining part of his sentence. Fred had been in custody for a year at the conclusion of the novel due to bad reports from his headmaster and although Borstal was not mentioned, he could have well been transferred there shortly afterwards!

A scary thought!
