Five Find-Outers Mystery Omnibus Editions.
Does anybody know if these Dean 3 in 1 mystery omnibus editions of Five find outers of 1992 and 1994 are really ' complete and unabridged' as thay have printed on the covers.
If thats so then the single story hardcover books of five find outers by Dean published around the same era would also be unabridged as I doubt the same publisher would make one format unabridged and the other unabrdiged.
What are your thoughts. .thanks..

I don't think the Find-Outers books have ever been abridged, though that doesn't necessarily mean they haven't been edited.

What are the significant edits.Have they been editted right from the Dragon books? Then the Dean and Mammoth of the 90s would have carried the same text..

I believe my 1970s Dragon paperbacks have the original text but I'm afraid I don't know about the Dean and Mammoth editions of the 1990s.aminmec wrote:What are the significant edits.Have they been editted right from the Dragon books? You might as well spend your money on the FFO vintage hardcovers that are 100% without editing. They are cheap actually. I used to have this notion that Enid Blyton vintage hardcovers were very expensive before 2014. In fact, most of them are reasonable priced. You can always buy them in bulk on Ebay. One seller will list them in bulk on ebay regularly.

I'm pretty sure that up to the mid 1990's the Find Outer books weren't edited or abridged. I can't speak for those printed after 2000 though.
I have many Dean hardback editions of The Find Outers and they appear to be the full unedited versions - even the type-face looks the same, with chapter headings and numbers written in exactly the same font style as the early editions. The only real changes, unfortunately, are with the illustrations, which often aren't the originals, but ones drawn by Mary Gernat and Jenny Chapple.

hmmm...I wouldn't call them cheap exactly, lol! Most Find Outer books with dust wrappers cost at least £12.00, whilst a Dean version might only be 99p in a charity shop!sixret wrote:You might as well spend your money on the FFO vintage hardcovers that are 100% without editing. I agree - that's quite cheap...but I would prefer wrappers!
For reading copies, older paperbacks or Dean editions are much cheaper!

You mean it's unfortunate that they dispensed with the considerable artistic talents of Joseph Abbey?? (I know, that was only the first seven books)Rob Houghton wrote:The only real changes, unfortunately, are with the illustrations, which often aren't the originals...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Yes - I have a few of the Mammouth version paperbacks and I would definitely say they are unabridged and unedited.
