Readathon - Secret Mountain and Secret of Killimooin

Post by Darrell71 »

Hi people! Well, I'm not exactly familiar with the procedure for starting a readathon, though I know what it is. And it's been only a few months since the Rockingdown Readathon was completed, so I'm not sure if anyone will be willing to have another one so soon!
If folks are willing though, I tthought we could have one on the Secret Series, as it's one of her overlooked series that's actually very good. Preferably not Island, because it's a widely popular book and I'm hoping we can have a Readathon on a more sidelined book in the series. Spiggy Holes isn't very well liked, but it might make a good book for a Readathon. Moon Castle was done fairly recently, if I'm not wrong. Killimooin or Mountain would be fine as well. Well, tell me what you think, and please say if it's too soon!

I'd definitely be up for Mountain or Killimooin, they're two of my absolute favourites! :)

Yes, after Christmas would be better. I think everyone will prefer that, as it's quite a busy time for most folks. :D

It would have to be Mountain or Kilimooin as all the others have been done before. I too would be up for it but maybe mid January or sometime like that?

I would probably participate too, if it started in the new year.

I've put most of my thoughts on the Secret series into my Journal articles, but a Readathon on Mountain or Killimooin is a good idea and I'd enjoy reading people's views and chipping in now and again.

Fine then, so Mountain or Killimooin it is. Which one would be better? Personally I prefer Killimooin, but well, it depends on the majority. Seeing as most people don't seem to have time to start reading before the new year, should we decide on January 17th, (Sunday) to be the date by which we start the Readathon? Or would later be better? I'm fine either ways...

I would like to participate which I definitely could if it were Mountain and possibly could if it were Killimooin.

I don't mind either ... I like them both very much. My only reason for going for Mountain would be that it comes before Killimooin.

Well I rather thing I'll set a date now. I guess we can start by Jan 15? The only question is Mountain or Killimooin. I prefer Killimooin, but I understand Daisy's point about Mointain being first, so Mountain it shall be.

Perhaps we could even do both - The Secret Mountain starting on 15th January, and then The Secret of Killimooin when the discussion of Mountain peters out? Anyway, it's just a suggestion!

That would be handy. I've just read 'Mountain' and have 'Killimooin' sitting by my bed waiting to be read. :D

I like Anita's idea actually. By the way, I just remembered that I'm going for an overnight trek on the 16th and 17th, so do you guys mind if we start on the 17th, and then I can join? Whatever the date though, I guess we'll start with Mountain and then go on to Killimooin once the discussion has petered out.

Okay, let's make it January 17th and start with The Secret Mountain, then move on to The Secret of Killimooin after that. I've changed the thread title so it says which books we're discussing.
