I think Moonraker was eluding to the fact I said I also didnt like this book much on a first reading...and maybe he should give it another try.
On the other hand, my version has Soper illustrations, LOL...! I have really enjoyed revisiting this book and really did surprise myself because when I first read it I hated it. It actually has some great scenes between the cousins, and although it's plain that Mr Roland is a baddy from the beginning, Enid is quite good at making him seem pleasant and fun-loving and intelligent, which sets him apart from most of her other villains, who look, sound and act like villains. It's well worth another read, Nigel!
I'm now inspired to read through the Five books in order, something I've never done before, leaving out Treasure Island but continuing on with Five Run Away Together, as I havent read them for around 10 years or so.
