I’m a bit of a Bundle and Cosy fan since reading the Society booklet ‘Letters from Bundle and Cosy and Enid Blyton’ so I quite envy you your Daily Mail Annual, Anita. ‘Cosy’s Good Turn’ is one of only two stories featuring these characters. I must look out for a copy.

I went to my shelves but the undated Daily Mail Annual there must be an older one. It has eight Blyton stories as well as that wonderful poem by her 'Salute the Children'. It does have 'The Beautiful Bone A Tale of Bundle and Cosy', which has the information that 'A Bundle and Cosy story appears every Sunday in the Sunday Dispatch'.
I'll read before for the Journal arrives.

I'm ecstatic. Christmas has come early this year...finally finally finally I have at long last managed to get a copy of Benjy and the Others!! I have been looking for this book for so long I'd practically given up on it. I feel like Indiana Jones when he finds the Holy Grail - and I'm not exaggerating!!

That's great, IceMaiden! Someone mentioned in another thread that there were two copies for sale the other day - one in the UK and one in Australia. I don't have the book but I was able to read the serialisation of Benjy and the Others in Sunny Stories, as I picked up a run of Sunny Stories magazines covering the relevant dates.

I didn't know there was another thread, I'll go and look now. I tried really hard to go the Sunny Stories route too but failed to find all the ones needed. I already collect the books, the magazines and the journals, I can't manage the Sunny Stories as well. My purse and shelving say I have to draw a line somewhere .

Last of the big spenders - I managed to win a copy of The Ring O'Bells Mystery in a great condition wraparound dust jacket for the princely sum of 50p!! It is now firmly in first place as my cheapest Enid Blyton book to date .

Yeah, sorry Boatbuilder. For some reason I thought it was you posting about the cheap purchase. I've now edited it to IceMaiden.
My only excuse is that the bad cough and cold I mentioned a little while ago (which had eased off) has now come back with a vengeance in the last few days and I'm feeling even rougher than I did before.

To be honest I tend to read them online now because they are mainly in the public domain .. though I do have many actual copies.

Re: What Enid Blyton book have you recently bought?
They're only in the public domain in certain countries (I'm guessing Canada is one, because I know certain other "classics" have gone out of copyright there before they did here). In the UK, copyright for written works doesn't expire until 70 years after the author's death, so it won't be until 2038 here for Enid's books.
How this works nowadays when so many publications are accessible online from anywhere in the world, I don't know, but copyright laws were invented before the internet was!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: What Enid Blyton book have you recently bought?
When Anjalli posted the above in another topic last week I found a copy of it on eBay for £1.99 + postage and decided to buy it.
It arrived today and it is like a new, unread book so I am very pleased with the purchase. Thanks for mentioning the book, Anjalli.
