Well, some bits were rewritten. the Yellow Fairy Book is the original, the Queer Adventure was abridged, but also has extra scenes which include Moonface and the faraway tree, so really both books are needed.
Not sure about The Green Goblin Book, as I only have the later FTJ version.

eBay, Eddie. I had it earmarked to be emailed when a copy became available. It cost me £3 inc p&p, so I am very happy.Eddie Muir wrote:Where did you buy book, Nigel? Is it available from the Mail on Sunday?

Thanks for the info, Nigel. I’ll keep a lookout for a copy.

Well done, Nigel! I managed to buy one just a few days after it was given away with the Mail on Sunday - on eBay for £2.50. Hopefully some more will be sold...although it does say 'not for resale' on the back!!

Here's a copy of that book:

My Pink Whistle books arrived today. Both are in very good wrappers, only a few nibbles around the edges, Adventures Of is an 8th edition and Party is a 1st. I'm chuffed to bits with them, thank you again Rob for inadvertently leading me to them .

Re: What Enid Blyton book have you recently bought?
Just received this book in the post. It cost £2.66 inc delivery and is in tip top condition.
I have never read any of Enid's school stories yet so it will all be quite fresh to me.
I did assume it would be the same size as The Adventure Treasury, but it's a bit smaller, about 3/4 of the size of that book.
Still, very good value for money and the illustrations whilst not perhaps from the 1st editions are all suitably older ones, many in colour.
I'm hoping it will provide a 'way in' for me to get into the school stories as I have never read them, assuming they have all been originally written for girls and not boys?

Great buy, Pete! yes - I bought the School Stories anthology when it was new, and like you, I expected it to be the same size as the Adventure Treasury. Silly idea to make them different sizes, as they don't really fit together on a shelf! Hope you enjoy delving into the school stories! I'm amazed you've never even read The Naughtiest Girl books - very accessible!

Re: What Enid Blyton book have you recently bought?
It is strange that "A treasure of Enid Blyton's school stories" has the same size as "Enid Blyton's treasury" from the 50s which features some of the stories that were later re-issued in the "Adventure-Treasury" and "School Stories". It makes you wonder why "Adventure Treasury" doesn't fit.

I envy you all so much!
I never get to buy any new Blytons, they're not available here, (except for the main series) and plus no one would allow me to buy them anyways. When I go to University I'm gonna save up and buy a separate shelf and then collect.

I'm hoping my sister will get me some Enid Blyton books for Christmas!!!
Lately, I haven't bought any EB book but whenever I get time I'm definitely gonna increase my EB collection
(but I've absolutely no idea what book to get that's the main problem!)

Re: What Enid Blyton book have you recently bought?
I've just bought 'New Friends and Old' - not the usual sort of EB book, but I have the other three (Happy Stories, Tales That Are Told and In Story Land, so thought I should get this one to complete the set of four.
For those that don't know, these were school books (I should imagine, although one of mine seems to have been bought as a present by an auntie to a little girl) with stories from history and folklore etc, each story or poem has a 'comprehension' page with questions and projects tied to the story. They are nice little books.
Also bought the 'book' Pete highlighted in the 'gems' thread - Two Years In the Infant School, Vol 1. Unfortunately it doesn't include the pictures, but I thought it would be nice to have a copy even so.
Lastly, I also bought a good first edition with dust wrapper of 'Five Get Into A Fix' - as I only had a Brockhampton edition previously.
Time to stop spending for a while now!!
