Re: A New Famous Five?
The book sounds quite good, I must say. Is it available in India? I particularly don't want to buy from Amazon.
"A holiday — a mystery — an adventure — and a happy ending for dear old Barney!" said Roger. "What more could anyone want?"
"An ice cream," said Snubby promptly. "Who's coming to buy one?" The Rubadub Mystery

I am a great supporter of Play.com, they are very quick, very reliable and above all don't charge postage. I am not sure that this last point would apply to India though!

I'll order a copy when I get paid from my charming independant local bookshop.
"You're so sharp you'll cut yourself one day!" Hunchy said going to the door
"So my Mother told me that when I was two years old!" said Julian and the others giggled.

Re: A New Famous Five?
No! I wish I did! Make shifts in the libraries seem easy!
We had another one a few years ago, which closed down because the rent on the building was raised and since this new one has popped up, which is as charming as the last, I've been trying to get all my books from there!
Help keep them a float. I have my name down for a job, but it seems everyone had the same idea!

Re: A New Famous Five?
Just realised the significance of this book being set in 1959 - the only year Enid didnt produce a new Famous Five adventure: the reason being (according to the new book) that the Five didnt ever solve it and so Enid didnt include it in the series!

Regarding your points, Play.com does seem quite good, but does it ship to India? I went to the link of the book but couldn't find a page of 'shipping places and prices'...... can anyone tell me?Tony Summerfield wrote:I am a great supporter of Play.com, they are very quick, very reliable and above all don't charge postage. I went to the Play.com site and clicked on "Help" and "Shipping Outside the UK" but unfortunately it doesn't look as if they ship to India, Philip (click on link and scroll down to see list of countries):Philip Mannering wrote:Play.com does seem quite good, but does it ship to India?

Re: A New Famous Five?
Oh no! Why can't they? One of the reasons I didn't want to buy from Amazon was that it didn't ship too, why can't one of these online sites ship worldwide? Only Navrang sees to do so, but the thing is, I nearly have all the Enid Blyton books they have.Anita Bensoussane wrote: I went to the Play.com site and clicked on "Help" and "Shipping Outside the UK" but unfortunately it doesn't look as if they ship to India, Philip (click on link and scroll down to see list of countries):

Re: A New Famous Five?
Surely a solution for Philip is someone buy it for him from Play (ie with free postage) and then send it out to him in India?
Re: A New Famous Five?
The only way I can Gary, is if Amazon's Australian website has it. And I'd have to wait until next pension day to purchase it, anyway.

Re: A New Famous Five?
Hmm. Sounds a flattering idea Gary, but who will be the 'someone'? I've got no friends in UK, and I don't think that if they will be in the future they'll take the trouble. I don't flatter myself that they will, anyway.Gary Russell wrote:Surely a solution for Philip is someone buy it for him from Play (ie with free postage) and then send it out to him in India?
Problem is, I live in a country which doesn't have too much British and US books, i.e., India. I've tried to search on some online buying sites that has the books which are not available here, but only Amazon and eBay springs to mind. And when I checked Amazon's shipping places, India wasn't there! Grr!
And eBay? Hmm. Not my choice. Bidding? Noooooo! I hate that! Plus, you run a lot of risks, (the book not arriving and all), and I don't think I'll like that.
Oh well. Some day I'll get to UK at last and walk away with a treasure of children's books that aren't available here, and I'll be happy. It's fun to dream, anyway, even though I don't think it's going to be fulfilled any time soon.
Oh well (again!). No sense getting worked up about it. When you know you can't get a thing you want to, it's better to just avoid it, or you'll be unhappy brooding.
Any online shop in mind which does ship worldwide and has British/US books? Suggestions will be welcome.
