I've just come across these lines in Enid Blyton's own poem, "Maytime," in the 1942 Sunny Stories calendar. So Uncle Merry and Diana were both quoting Enid Blyton!Anita Bensoussane wrote:In the chapter "First Walk in May," Uncle Merry quotes:
"Oh, Maytime, fold your fleeting wing,
And let it be forever Spring!"
Diana quotes the same thing in Chapter 10 of The Ring O' Bells Mystery, though she says "thy fleeting wing." I was wondering whether anyone knows where the quotation comes from?
