Looking For Fatty & co. in Peterswood/Bourne End
Now I know why searching for it was unsuccessful: I only searched for "Looking for Fatty in Peterswood" and forgot to include "& co.".
Unless you're absolutely sure of the whole thread title, you may have more success if you search for a key word or key phrase.

I really enjoyed your Kirrin Cottage description William E. Alongside Betty Maxey's artistic depictions my Kirrin Cottage mental geographic image is almost complete.

Of course, Eileen Soper does a good job too!

Entering "Looking for Fatty in Peterswood" finds the right thread if you use the advanced search and tick "thread titles". It probably came up without using advanced search, but it would be in amongst a load of threads which used those words in some other order.

All I remembered was "Looking for Fatty", but as usual "Search" didn't find it. :(

I found it by putting in "Fatty in Peterswood".

Daisy, I knew it! The "Search" feature on EBS just does not like me.

At the beginning of Five on a Treasure Island George's cousins are shown where they will sleep. P 16- 17th
reprint 1968.
The two boys were shown where to sleep in a room with a slanting roof at the top of the house. It had a marvellous view of the bay......
Anne was to sleep with Georgina in a smaller room, whose windows over looked the moor at the back of the house.

Wonder why the German edition failed to mention this in the translation.

It also occurred to me that the Kirrin's had common rights and kept their pony on Kirrin common.

The storms in the story are ferocious ones and this would seem to be an accurate description for I witnessed such a storm last week while I was down in Bournemouth for a few days.

I think Swanage is a better location for Kirrin village than Poole.

William, I guess that was the language barrier.
I said that from my German translation I do seem to remember that one window of the girls' bedroom faced the moors. But you did not mention the moors. You mentioned Kirrin Common.

Now there's a thought. The children travel to/from Kirrin Station in the pony-trap a few times, but the pony/horse is never mentioned any other time, is it? No mention of its name, where it lives, who feeds it. That's a bit odd!

Liam's book gives a good overview of the pony and trap. I had also forgotten that even Julian's family owned a horse named Dobby.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I have just found one of the nicest reviews of the Ginger Pop Shop.

It seems it was my day off and John was giving his "don't ask me, I've only read two" expression!

That's lovely, Viv! :D I remember visiting the shop and I think it must have been you I met — we didn't talk very long, but it was after that visit that I decided I must find out if there really are other adult fans of Enid Blyton, so as soon as I could get online, I went looking and found this website (and the rest, as they say, is history)...
