Hi there Anita

Yes, I hope to be at the EB day. Hope to see you there.

Yes, I saw the film and I know what you mean. I thought the bit at the end when Tom gets his relatives to stop the car so he can find the tree with the initials carved an interesting twist (I don't remember this in the book but I might have missed it)?

My grandparents had a flat in an old house that had still kept its parkland setting/garden despite being in London and carved up into flats. The house still has a sort of Tom's Midnight Garden magic! I have been known to go back

Glad you're coming to the EB Day again, Belly! I feel a bit guilty for not introducing you to Tony last year - I assumed you'd already seen him and only found out later that he hadn't had the chance to meet you.

I'm not sure whether that part was in the book - I'll have to re-read it!

And why not? It sounds beautiful.

Tom's Midnight Garden is one of my very favourite books - the only classic I liked. Others - too boring. It amazes me how Philippa Pearce managed to write without old-fashioned language, so that the book was greatly readable! :D
"A holiday — a mystery — an adventure — and a happy ending for dear old Barney!" said Roger. "What more could anyone want?"
"An ice cream," said Snubby promptly. "Who's coming to buy one?" The Rubadub Mystery
