Come to think of it, Ragamuffin Jo was very resourceful.

I really admired Philip's ability to talk to the animals. It was never really made clear how he achieved that

What about Mafumu in Secret Mountain? Okay so he wasn't clever in an educated sense but he knew his surroundings, knew what they could and couldn't eat and picked up English at an alarming rate

The blind shepherd in The Secret of Killimooin was pretty clever - knowing the entire mountainside even though he was completely blind is amazing!

But overall, Fatty has to get my vote. His cleverness was comprised of both brains and wit.

Julian was very clever to as how he could reply back Mrs Stick and Hunchy and many other baddies. But I agree with a few people here that he was really bossy.

Jack of the Secret Series, he is also clever, but in another way. He is clever with his hands. Though in Spiggy Holes, when Mrs. Diaz came to speak with them, he was clever at making her think that they didn't have anything to do with their prisoner.

Is there a mistake in that, Julian? I read somewhere that it was OK if you revive olden threads.

Well, today the Games forum seems to be dead. No one available there. How can I post there if no one is available.

And if you have looked at my posts, this isn't the first post out of the Games forum.

I'm sure it's quite OK to add to threads which haven't had a contribution for some time. New people join the forums and if they wish to add to any subject, that's fine. It sometimes takes a newcomer to bring a topic back to life - so well done and welcome! As for posting on the games forum I have assumed you do it and then wait for someone to come on line to carry on with whatever game you are playing. I've never bothered much myself, mainly because it often means posting the next question which I don't really want to do!

I think I'll vote for Jo. A strong willed child of her time, with no proper parent guidance.
She gets my vote.

Julie, we are not voting here. Voting happens in the character of the month topics on the 'Miscellaneous Blyton' forum. You can vote there.

Here we discuss about which character we think is the cleverest.

I hope you understand what I mean.

Thanks,
Adventure.

I am not the world's biggest fan of Jo to be honest ;). I felt sorry for her and yes, she was certainly resourceful but I also found her irritating in some respects. Partly this was because she shares my first name - Josephine - I thinK! I was always rather miffed as a child that the two characters with that name in Blyton's books weren't all that likeable.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.

Oh i dont know, I thought ragamuffin Jo was a very likeable character. The Cleverest? No, not by a long shot, streetwise maybe (or should that be country wise?) but not the cleverest. That honour probably has to go, fairly predictably, to Fatty who can genuinely do everything and anything and is never lost for a good idea or a crimebusting theory. But I like the way Ragamuffin Jo develops from a criminally minded brat to a good and trustworthy friend. Her impishness also tends to provide a sharp contrast to the rather posher Famous Five themselves.

Cleverest uneducated person - Jo, obviously.

Cleverest educated person - Fatty.

No contest with this, but maybe Jack, Philip and Kiki has a chance to creep in.
