And last but not the least, our dear Gillian Baverstock. Sorry if the pic is so small!

Re: A Photograph
For my 100th post, here is my translation of that article:Almas wrote:May I add me contributions too? Well - here goes:
An article in foreign language about the "Madonna-Blyton" incidence
A Gap in Madonna's Reading Knowledge
Pop icon Madonna has just written a children's book, yet knows nothing about the works of a fellow-author that have been devoured by millions of children. According to press reports on Monday, Madonna replied "Who's she? Is she good?" when asked whether she was emulating the creator of the Famous Five, Enid Blyton (1897-1968, photo below). Tony Summerfield of the Enid Blyton Society was understanding. "Madonna is American and Enid Blyton is practically unknown in the USA."
And that's his century ...

Re: A Photograph
Interested that Tony seems to have said that Enid Blyton is practically unknown in the States. According to an American lady on radio 4 "Noddy is a great favourite".
Also the "press button" book of Noddy has a very American accent, as in "jeepers creepers" ! and "Gee Whizz"!
What would Enid have said, especially as I believe she was thrilled when the idea of Noddy was first mooted, as British children would not have to rely on the dreaded Disney!
I think Madonna is being let off too lightly!
