Some wonderful items there, Pete. Thank you for posting them. Every child's book of Charles and Anne by Enid is lovely.
It's touching to see the link between two great ladies.

The copies I looked up seem to have gone up in price.
Hope you got a bargain!
I found one on AbeBooks for £10 plus postage so I didn’t think that was too bad. I think the spine is damaged, cosmetically at least but that appeared the case on all the copies I’d looked at, most of which were much dearer.

Thanks for the links.

I think that Princess Elizabeth would have been the right age to have Sunny Stories read to her, but in the normal way she would have been just a little too old to read the novels.

Except, that Princess Margaret (b 1930) was more the right age to read those classic books fresh off the press. She would have been 8 when The Secret Island came out, 9 for The Enchanted Wood and 12 for Five on a Treasure Island.

It rather depends just how bored Princess Elizabeth was whilst at wartime Windsor to read her little sister's books!

I have just enjoyed reading a review of "The Story of our Queen" which is in the cave, followed by the complete book with all its beautiful illustrations. I remember reading it when it was first published although I never had a copy of my own.
