Wow - Thanks Nigel - I hadn't heard that term before.
Wonder how it's pronounced?
My guess is that someone extremely knowledgeable like say, John Pickup will know.

 What a great day that was 125 years ago and I wonder how different our lives would have been had Enid Blyton not been born!

According to the TV yesterday she had written 792 books and they'd been translated into 92 languages. I wonder how these figures compare to the society's

At least he can spell it (copied & pasted, maybe?)

Kwos - key - sen - tennial, I imagine. Although I did an online search and they all seem American, pronouncing it Kwos (or Kwas) - Kwee - centennial.

Today, my Smartphone prompted me to read an article about Enid Blyton's quasquicentennial on BBC Culture, entitled "The British Author who is loved in India", which I found interesting. However, it is a bit frightening that Google & Co know so much about me that they can suggest articles that appeal to me (they also send me articles from the Racing Post and on historical subjects, which I tend to read)!!!

Since it's from Latin, though, wouldn't both the "quas" and the "qui" naturally be pronounced with the "kw" sound? (Either that, or both with a "k" sound, which I'm guessing would be the French pronunciation.)

Or even easier, maybe we could just call it Enid's 125th Birthday!! :D

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

It's a common word, Nigel. I didn't need to copy and paste.
