I'm absolutely loving these pictures Peter. I agree that the one of the older Enid looks much nicer in colour. I've also just noticed that the one of Enid with the typewriter on her knee appears to show a curved wall behind her.

Oh how I wish that Green Hedges hadn't been demolished. From what I've seen of it, it would have been my idea of the perfect house.

Thank you John & Katharine.
I wasn't sure whether everyone would find the colour versions boring, or prefer the original black and white pics.

I think they are great too!

Did you see the WW1 films colourised? It somehow made the soldiers so much more real somehow, rather than from 'olden days' :?

Thanks, Viv & Eddie & John..

I agree Viv, It makes everything more real somehow seeing historic films/pictures in colour.

My younger brother Mike when aged about five or six once asked my Nan what it was like to live when the whole world was in black and white!!!

Well done, Pete! Most of these have turned out pretty well.

Great work, Pete!

 There's a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon where Calvin asks his dad why old photos and movies are all black and white, and his dad decides to be clever and tell him that the whole world really WAS black and white until about the 1960s, when everything changed to colour. Then Calvin asks him why old paintings are in colour, then, if everything was black and white when they were painted... I can't quite remember how the strip ends, but poor old dad's tall story starts getting more and more convoluted as he tries to bluff his way out of it without admitting he was fibbing in the first place!

That sounds intriguing, Courtenay. He obviously dug a deeper and deeper hole for himself. :D

I've just now managed to find the strip here! :D

Calvin asks Dad about "old black and white photos"

(Turns out he says it was the 1930s, not the 1960s, that the world "turned colour", but there you go.)
