That is probably the explanation, Daisy. I wasn't querying it, just making an observation when 1953 was mentioned. It would seem they were issued with her portrait from 1952, but when in '52 I can't seem to find out as yet. There is a bit of info HERE.

Talking of stamps, I did acquire a set of stamps issued recently depicting stamps from the reign of Queen Victoria, when stamps first came into being, through all the monarchs to date. There is a picture which I took of the set HERE.

Seriously though, I always imagine Pete as a bit of a rascal - like a cross between Snubby and - er - Errol Flynn!...sort of ageless!
