I wrote an article on my blog on the mind of Enid Blyton and my personal connection to her. It's something I worked very hard on, and finally released it on her 50th death anniversary. Please give it a read, and give me feedback! If any information is wrong, please let me know– I'd be happy to correct it.

Interesting thoughts. I first read Enid Blyton - the Biography when I was 13 or 14 and it shattered my illusions too as I had imagined Enid Blyton to inhabit a sunny, stable world. However, I gradually came to appreciate the fact that she was as human as the rest of us. People who knew her may have found her difficult at times, but the best of her lives on in her books and continues to inspire others. I'm sure she'd be very proud to know that so many children (and adults!) still read her stories and love the characters she created.
