Re: Happy Birthday Enid!
They're Alicia's words really, from Last Term at Malory Towers. Sally says they're not really grown up yet despite being in their final term at school because they always feel so hungry, whereas grown ups never seem to feel that way. Alicia replies, as she takes a biscuit, "Long live our appetites! And may our shadows never grow less!"

Happy Birthday in spirit to our dearest and most beloved Enid Blyton!
I Love your books, they hold for us, what they held for children long ago.
You're the best authoress in the world!
What you all going to celebrate with?
I'm celebrating with a Walnut and honey tart! Along with American corn bread, couldn't resist. and to end off with a sip of old fashioned lemonade without the fizz, a sip of coca cola and of course not forgetting the Ribena! Total Bliss!

Enid will be doubly proud then, quoting her written word.

"You're so sharp you'll cut yourself one day!" Hunchy said going to the door
"So my Mother told me that when I was two years old!" said Julian and the others giggled.

I'm feeling a bit peckish despite having cooked a roast chicken dinner earlier this evening, so I might well join you in tucking into something nice to celebrate Enid's birthday, Susie. Chocolate would be just the thing for me if we've got any.Susie wrote:What you all going to celebrate with?

Heh - going by Sally's words it sounds as though we've got some way to go before we're truly groan-up! And I for one am not in any hurry!

At one stage it looked like a twister was heading towards Enid Blyton's Birthday Party at Corfe Castle today, but we got away with a single heavy squall.

1800 people! Thats great Viv, you always get great attendances at your events. Dorset is certainly a most Blyton-friendly county.

Happy Birthday Enid!
It seems to have passed everybody by this year, but today would have been Enid's 116th birthday!

Re: Happy Birthday Enid!
I celebrated Enid's 116th birthday in a water park with my extended family. Had a lovely, rather Blyton-esque day, though I wish it wasn't so crowded and the theme park was more like the travelling circuses and fairs she wrote so much about.

OMG! How could I forget? Then again, this year is going so quickly that I can't seem to keep up! The days seem to fly by in the blink of an eye!

Re: Happy Birthday Enid!
We spent the day picnicking with friends (we saw numerous bees and dragonflies) and playing Monopoly so I suppose it was quite Blytonian, though we ought to have played Racing Demon as well!

Happy Birthday Enid!
I've had a few Blyton-esque meals today so perhaps that counts as celebratory - ham sandwiches for lunch, a big pot of milky tea with crumpets and biscuits at tea-time, then sausages later on, and some strawberries just now
I actually did a painting earlier of a wreckers' tower on a clifftop in the moonlight, inspired by Five Go Down To The Sea, so Enid has inspired me on her birthday - thankyou Enid!
