Quiz Facts Newspaper Article
I was reading a newspaper article online which had some rather intersting general knowledge facts, but one in particular stood out to me; "Enid Blyton liked to play tennis in the nude". I find this difficult to believe, but I have also heard that she didn't have the idyllic life that everyone thinks she had....
Does anyone know if this is actually true, or just newspaper fodder?

I had heard of this, but somehow, I'm not sure if it's true or not! I guess I'd have had to see this fact before I believe it!!!!
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.

I believe the origin of this story is Hugh Pollock's third wife Ida in her autobiography "Starlight". I think it is complete twaddle. Unfortunately, such a juicy morsel gets repeated from time to time in newspaper articles and on TV shows like QI.

I think the rumour was first mentioned in the 1996 TV documentary Secret Lives - Enid Blyton.

Okay, thanks everyone

The trouble with playing tennis in the nude, is the damage you do to your feet. You've also got to be careful jumping over the net.

Great comments, Nigel.

Isn't it recommended to walk on grass with bare feet anymore? As far as I know they play tennis in Queens and Wimbledon on grass.

I seem to remember replying to this before- Enid was quoted (by her gardener, I think) as playing indoors. He (allegedly) saw her through a gap in the curtains. He seems to think that his spying is 'normal' while she is 'weird',

Re: Quiz Facts Newspaper Article
It is one of those 'facts' that cannot be refuted now as Enid is not around. After all in years to come it might be asserted that Nigel also played tennis in the nude - something I refuse to believe!
