The trailer looks good, Tony. If the DVD has since been considerably improved and a soundtrack added, it must be superb. I can't wait to watch it either this evening or tomorrow. :D

Chick and I watched the DVD last night and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. It covers Enid's life from birth until she married Hugh Alexander Pollock in 1924 and contains some beautiful shots of the Beckenham houses and places associated with the young Enid. I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest in the development of the writer and most definitely for anyone attending the Beckenham meeting on 15th June. So get your orders off to Tony. :D

I enjoyed looking at the clip that Nigel gave us the link to, and have my cheque ready to post in the morning.

Mike Shaw's film about Enid Blyton's Beckenham years was recently shown at the Orpington Film Festival:

I thought I'd give a link to the Bromley Times article because I wasn't sure whether we'd seen that photo before of Enid Blyton in Hatchards, Piccadilly, with John Howard Davies who played Oliver in the 1948 film Oliver Twist.

It's a nice little DVD and a great addition to any Blyton collection. I'm surprised but pleased to hear that it was shown at a film festival. 8)

I have had an update email from Mike Shaw about his film:-

Just to let you know, Enid Blyton - The Beckenham Years was shown at the SERIAC Film Festival (South Eastern Region of the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers) on Saturday and from the 60 entries, collected the four top Awards - JVC Best Editing Trophy, Croydon Trophy for Best Documentary, the prestigious 'first prize' Regional Shield for Best Movie in the Festival, and - also extremely rewarding - the Alex Dove Trophy for the film voted as 'best in show' by the audience.

I think it is the first time one film has picked up so many of the top awards.

Excellent news. I hope it also enjoyed some commercial success and brought it's maker some tangible rewards. :D
