Madame Tussaud request for Enid Blyton
Hi Everyone!!
The other day I came up with the notion to contact Madame Tussauds in London and asked them would they have any intention of doing a wax model on Enid Blyton as I thought like yourselves I think that she really deserves to be recognized not only because of her contribution to literature, but as a person and her kindness to the charities and the impact she had in her era and also today!!
This morning I received a reply from them and I have copied and pasted it below. I was also wondering maybe anyone from this forum or the society members who would be interested could somehow form a petition in writing and we could send it to Madame Tussauds.
Here is the reply.....
Good afternoon Maureen,
Thank you for your email, and I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit.
As far as I am aware there are no plans to make Enid Blyton at present; however I have passed your request on to the Marketing team who decide what figures will be made next.
Kind Regards

Re: Madame Tussaud request for Enid Blyton
To be honest I don't think enough people would recognise a waxwork of Enid Blyton to make it worthwhile... plenty of people know her name, but probably not what she looks like.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Also, can't believe they haven't got waxworks of the 1970's and 1990's Famous Five, what an outrage!

This is probably true, so what a good excuse for a Blyton waxwork. Kids could then line up, holding up their favourite Blyton book for a photo.Fiona1986 wrote: plenty of people know her name, but probably not what she looks like.

I agree entirely, Julie and it's great that you wrote to Madame Tussauds in London, Maureen.

I imagine there'd be a few adults doing the same!

Re: Madame Tussaud request for Enid Blyton
That was my first thought too - though if the figure was labelled with her name it would surely be interesting for visitors who hadn't known what she looked like to find out! I haven't been to Madame Tussaud's for over twenty years so I can't remember whether models are displayed in groups according to occupation etc. - e.g. popstars, politicians, royalty... An Enid Blyton waxwork wouldn't look out of place among waxworks of other famous writers.Fiona1986 wrote:To be honest I don't think enough people would recognise a waxwork of Enid Blyton...

Re: Madame Tussaud request for Enid Blyton
My daughter has been a few times Anita, and I believe some of them are randomly positioned and you can stand besides them or sit next to them etc. I think it's rather all informal, which would be good for people of all ages to see what Enid looked like, how tall she was etc.
I'd love to see Enid in the waxworks. I wonder if they'd do the Find-Outers too!!

How about a waxwork of Fatty in his disguise as a waxwork of Napoleon!

What a great suggestion, Anita!

Yes, that sounds good Anita!
I think more people would recognise Enid's characters than her herself to be honest... What about the Famous Five of Five Find-Outers?

As Julie says Anita this is how they display them in the exhibitions, they even give you props to wear as well,eg the Queen is standing next to her throne, you can put on a crown and sit on the throne or like Maryiln Monroe you can wear a wig like hers etc.
Here in the Sydney one where I live also there are professional photographers going around and if you want a photo taken they take it of you, when you exit you see the photo but if you dont like how it turned out you dont have to purchase it.
