I have doubted the above assertion. In my opinion what happened is that someone may have spotted Enid Blyton playing tennis in a blouse that showed her bare shoulders (which may have been a taboo aspect during Enid's days) just as tennis stars like Serena Williams do in a couple of tennis championships, including the US Tennis Open.

I think you may be close to the truth there Stephen. When I read those ridiculous rumours I came to a similar conclusion.

From distant memory I think it was a gardener who reported peeping through a small gap in the curtains and seeing Enid playing tennis indoors.The suggestion of this being perverted was therefore made by someone who presumably considered spying on his employer through a chink in the curtain to be "normal".
