Re: Photos of Enid
We had a discussion about that earlier and I don't think we came to any definite conclusion, but the colours don't look quite natural.Robert Houghton wrote:Is there any evidence that this colour photo by the bookcase is indeed 'colourised'? I guess it could be, but to me it looks a natural colour photo of the period. Surely if it was colourised, the colourist wouldn't have gone to the trouble of perfectly matching all the colours on all the book spines? It looks to me like a typical coloured photo of the 1950's.

Part of EB's hair on that color pic looks bluish to me. I know that some decades ago older ladies in Germany had a bluish...almost purple...tone in their silvery hair, but am not sure if that was already invented before 1968?

Re: Photos of Enid
I know that in the 1950's coloured photos did look more unnatural, but presumed it was more to do with the coloured printing process, rather than them being coloured. I know my mom had a lot of 'Hollywood Albums' in the 50's with similarly coloured photos, and they always looked gloriously garish! I like the style of them, however.

I don't recall seeing this picture of Enid before.
She looks extremely happy.

This was taken at the dress rehearsal of the Noddy in Toyland play at the Princes Theatre in December 1955. Enid is with Patricia Cree who plays Silky. It is nice that not all my files are just a waste of space on my computer!

What a lovely photo of them both. Very interesting to see this slice of Blyton history!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

A great photo! Interesting to note that Silky the elf hasn't got wings. Some of the Faraway Tree illustrators have given her wings in the books.

I suppose in 1955 there were only the Dorothy Wheeler illustrations to go by.

Great picture, they both look like they are having lots of fun.
