Re: photos of enid
I'm confused. I am using Google.com, and the Society is 8th on the list. It used be to 4, before, I think.
I tried with Google.co.uk, now, and still the same for me.

The Society is still 5th on the list when I use Google UK, Ming and Julie.

My results came the same as Ming - the Society is eighth on the list! I'm using Google India though - can't get on .com!

I googled Enid Blyton and the society website came up eighth on the list. Like Philip, I couldn't access .com and had to use co.in.

Re: photos of enid
Getting this thread back onto track, I have just been sent the photo below from Rolf in Sweden, together with the following message:-
Together with my mother, a Swedish journalist, I visited Enid Blyton in the spring of 1968. So I probably took some of the last photographs of her.
I include the one I like the best. You have my permission to use it on the web as is, if you like.

Re: photos of enid
Thats a very poignant photograph indeed. By the spring of 1968 she must have already been suffering from dementia and no longer writing. Despite which she looks quite contented sitting there by the fire, with the teacup on the hearth. The message from Rolf indicates that there are more of these pictures. I would really like to see them sometime if it were possible. His mother was a journalist I see, I wonder if there was an interview or something carried out on that occasion? That would be an interesting thing to read if it existed.
As an aside I dont know if everyone has seen it but on the homepage messageboard someone has posted a link to several excellent pictures of Enid in the mid 1950's. They are lovely shots though one can clearly see that she is beginning to age albeit gracefully.

Re: photos of enid
John, is right, when he says this is a very poignant photo. With the light shinning through the window onto Enid's hair, and knowing that in the winter of that year she will have left us all, sent as shiver running down my spine. A truely wonderful photo. Thanks for sharing that with us all, Tony. I would love to see any more if Rolf from Sweden has any.
How lucky to have met and taken some photos of Enid in the final months of her life time. She looks so frail but content to see by the fire. And you can clearly see the framed photo behind her of her beloved husband. What an amazing and truely wonderful photo.

That really is wonderful. The entire setting is so very comfortable and homely, and almost FFO-like. I can't really describe it, it's very poignant indeed. Words fail me.

Re: photos of enid
Fascinating. I seem to recall that George Greenfield used to visit Enid Blyton at Green Hedges at that time and paints a picture of her life as very lonely, although I think she had some long-standing members of staff? I've only seen one corner of that room in previous photos so it's interesting to see more in Rolf's photo. Thanks very much indeed to Rolf for sharing it with us. Like others, I'd be interested to see more photos and perhaps hear more from Rolf about the visit.

Fascinating. I can see a lot more of Gillian in her (or should that be V.V. ) who I knew at a similar age.
Is it a portrait of Kenneth above the mantlepiece?
Thanks

Re: photos of enid
I like the one taken outside because we can see Enid more clearly. There is a sadness about these photos yet they're also intriguing. Did Rolf and his mother actually interview Enid Blyton, as Lucky Star wondered? If so, I wonder how she was on that particular day and what she talked about?
