I enjoyed reading your interesting letter, James, and I agree that the Faraway Tree books are marvellous. My favourite characters are Curious Connie (who appears in the third book) and the Saucepan Man.

If you haven't tried them already, you might also like the Wishing-Chair books and The Enid Blyton Book of Brownies.

We don't know which of her own books Enid Blyton liked best, but as a child she loved the magical atmosphere of The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald.

Of her own characters, she was particularly fond of George (an adventurous girl who wants to be a boy) in the Famous Five books.

An excellent letter, James! I agree that Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree books are wonderful - they involve so much creativity and imaginative detail. As well as some of the other fantasy books that Anita mentioned, I also recommend that you try some of Enid's adventure or mystery based books such as the Famous Five or the Secret Seven.
