Does anyone know what the badge/emblem is on Jennifer's coat? I've tried enlarging it but with no success.

I'm guessing, if Michelle's got the same badge/emblem on her jacket (or cagoule?), it represents the girls' school that their characters Anne and George go to.

Further thoughts, anyone??

I always thought it was a Zodiac symbol on Jennifer's jacket/cagoule. She was born under the sign of Taurus the Bull, so I naturally assumed this is what it represented. I think they were quite popular with teens in the mid to late 70's. Michele was an Aries, but going by a pic I found on google images of her jacket, the symbol is of a White Eagle with red Sergeant stripes underneath. So, definitely not depicting which School she attended or a Zodiac symbol!

That was my second thought. Perhaps these were symbols/emblems that pertained to the actresses themselves and not to their characters.

In addition, have we ever seen a closer view of any of these symbols/emblems?

The girls went to two different schools. Jennifer to the Corona Stage Academy and Michele to the Arts Educational School. I have only seen it on Jennifers clothing and nowhere else .

I went on Google search "Famous Five photos 1978" & I found two pics of their jackets. The first is of Jennifer sitting with a Chimp from Go off in a Caravan & the second is of Michele in Smugglers Top village with the rest of the child cast. For some reason I couldn't access the pics, but you'll find them easy enough.

I went on Google search "Famous Five photos 1978" & I found two pics of their jackets. I have a 697x869 copy of the former picture (ie Jennifer Thanisch) originally from the old website "Five on a Website" [404 since 2007].

Thanks daanton! This is one of the pics I was referring to, which I found on Google search for "Famous Five photos 1978". I can vaguely remember one of my friends having a similar jacket to the one worn by Jennifer. She had an elaborate Pisces symbol on the left side of her jacket. I think it was a brief late 70's fashion trend. You could get different designs, hence Michele having a 'Army/Navy' type logo on her jacket! As I've said before, I could be mistaken.

Just to say there’s nothing significant to the logos on the girls’ jackets. They were shop-bought by Rita our costume designer (as were all the clothes on both series) without any input from the actors. They were just random designs that were already on the jackets

Cheers, Gary! Glad you were able to come in & dispel my desperate theory!! I did genuinely think that if the logo on Jen's coat was of the Taurus star sign, then maybe on this rare occasion that she was allowed to use her own coat. It certainly would've been quite a coincidence if Rita had bought an item of clothing with Jen's star sign already on it. As you say, though, they were just random logos bought from a shop. Oh well, another mystery solved!

I can remember you telling me & timv (in August) about some of the clothes/items that you kept after filming the series. What a fab way to recall the special moments & memories from the series! It would be nice to see some pics, along with a few words regarding memories each item brings back to you! Interesting as well as nostalgic!:D
