Re: Michele Gallagher
Imagine starring in a TV show and then seeing your name wrong on the titles, how galling!
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Thanks to Gary and number 6 for confirming the correct spelling.
I do find it hard to believe Michele would now have been in her mid fifties.I myself will be fifty two this December.
Where the heck have all those years since the sunny 1970's gone!

Yeah. As I'm now closer to 60 than 50, that "what happened to the sunny 70s" thing is never far from my thoughts. That and adverts for stairlifts, funeral arrangements and retirement villages... life as you get older is, as they say, a bitch...

It's called 'getting old' Pete and the older you get the faster the years pass by - or seem to. Before you know where you are you'll be 20 years older and the same age as I now am.pete9012S wrote:I myself will be fifty two this December.

Yes John, I'm starting to agree with you!
Back on topic, I've never really watched many of the 1970's Famous Five's although I now own them all on DVD.
I must remedy that and watch a couple before I become a pensioner!

It's time to make an offer for Gatewood House, Gary! Your perfect retirement home.Gary Russell wrote:Yeah. I have been rewatching all the FF 1970s series and all the memories and the nostalgia (nostalgia for my childhood lol because I wasn't alive during the 70s) just came back to me. Furthermore every time I watch this series sadness overcomes me because even 7 years later (that's when I truly started doing my "official research" on Michele Gallagher) I haven't been able to acquire any consistent information about her life after the films.
As mentioned before in the forums this is up to people that knew her to share and I totally respect their privacy. But being an actress I loved as a child, it is quite sad to be ignorant of how she fared in live. Although for me, she is forever the 13 year old girl I first saw! (trust my six year old self to think she was a boy)
She was such a lovely person, pretty child and excellent actress.
But I supposed the greatest and most beautiful memories is her acting in the Famous Five and I guess I must guard that memory with gratitude.
By the way I was thinking that all the actors must have been around 13 & 14 years of age throughout the series? If I am correct I am now older than all of them were while filming! Where have all the years gone?
PS: I have been spelling her name wrong all the time. I must congratulate myself haha

Re: Michele Gallagher
I totally understand your feelings, Maria Esther. It is a shame about Michele, but this is life. It's cruel and unforgiving. Time doesn't stand still. It marches on regardless, so we have to make the most of it. Remembering Michele in your own way will keep her memory alive. I'm sure she would've appreciated everyone's love and admiration had she still been with us.
On a personal note, Michele is the only one out of the four F5 child actors I've not met, which is a shame.

Re: Michele Gallagher
It used to happen quite a lot. Looking at IMDB, you often see annotations that the actor was credited under a different spelling of their name in a certain production (eg Taylor/Tayler). It must indeed be annoying!Fiona1986 wrote:Imagine starring in a TV show and then seeing your name wrong on the titles, how galling!

4th April... It would've been Michele Gallagher's 56th birthday, today. Doesn't seem 40+ years since she played George in the 70's Famous Five TV series. How time flies!

Time flies indeed. I still vividly remember watching that all playing outdoors stopped and everyone went inside to watch the programme before re-emerging afterwards to discuss it.

Yes, I can remember doing the same thing, Lucky Star! I wonder if this scenario was repeated up and down the Country? I bet it was!

Thankfully (and for a change!) this year I did remembered this special occasion, and on the 4th of April, spend some time thinking of her.number 6 wrote:4th April...
