Re: New Zealand Adventure/Secret Series
That may well depend on whether ot not it has also been coded to play on Region 2 as well. That set specifically states R4 so there is no guarantee it will play. Some players will allow you to switch regions BUT only a certain number of times, unless you have a multi-regional player. After that number of times has been reached you are left with a player that will only play the last region you switched to. If it happened to be a region other than '2' then your Region 2 discs won't play.

Re: New Zealand Adventure/Secret Series
I bought the 1970s FF series on DVD in the UK (Region 2) to send to my sister in Australia and they played absolutely fine on her DVD player (Region 4). I don't know if it works the other way around, but I'm guessing it should.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

May be worth reading the 'ifs' and 'buts' discussed HERE regarding DVDs. It might be quite a few years old but I doubt much has changed.

Well, it seems to be a suck it and see affair. I have an unmodified UK Sony 4k blu ray player. All six Australia dvds I have bought in the last ten years have played and still play on it. It won’t play Region 1, but 2 and 4 work fine.

It sounds like you may possibly have the same Sony (UBP-X700) 4K Blu-Ray Disc Player as I have. which I bought in 2019. I have never tried, or ever had the need to try, anything other than Region 2 and of course Region 0 on both that or the ordinary Sony BD players I also have. As you say, it seems like suck it and see.
