Look what Timmy's nosed out today. Good dog!
I suppose, however, that you'd oject to the name "Dagobert".
Cheers

How about Richard Kirrin (like the German editions of the books) ?Dick Kirrin wrote: Dick Kirrin (or should I write Mick Kirrin?)

Sounds too much like Richard Kent. As I wouldn't be sure that Rooky's/Mr Perton's hearing aids work properly, it could get me "into Touble".How about Richard Kirrin (like the German editions of the books) ?

You'd get into trouble with them no matter how you're called, so even "Hardy" wouldn't keep you out of itDick Kirrin wrote:Sounds too much like Richard Kent. Dagobert!!! Please don't mention it! Makes my day even worse...Dick Kirrin wrote:I suppose, however, that you'd oject to the name "Dagobert".
By the way, here's another version of the Spanish theme tune:

Re: 70s Series Opening Theme - Spanish Version
I've attempted to transcribe the Spanish lyrics and done a rough translation. I only have A-level Spanish (quite rusty as it was several years ago), so feel free to correct or improve it! Some of the words are similar to the original English ones.George@Kirrin wrote:Having now listened to the Spanish version, it's great.. Does anyone know how it translates? Just wondering if they've had to change words to make it fit...

Where there are adventures to chase
A trail, a message, a key, for the Five to find
Where there is a mystery to clear up
In a ruined castle, dark and evil ghosts
They’re very famous, yeah
Julian, Dick and Anne, George, and Timmy is the other one
Everybody knows them, yeah
Their great wisdom, boldness and courage
Their great courage
The most secret doors will open
The strangest noises can’t frighten them
No mystery can pass them by
And on the trail, the Five will follow
They’re very famous, yeah
Julian, Dick and Anne, George, and Timmy is the other one
Everybody knows them, yeah
Their great wisdom, boldness and courage
Their great courage
Where there are adventures to chase
A trail, a message, a key, for the Five to find…

* ya is a rather meaningless 'filler' word, with no direct English equivalent.
** es el que más - I'm not sure if I've transcribed this bit correctly, so the translation is only a guess.

Thanks Pete, I'm very relieved to hear that! Would your friend mind listening to the song and checking if I've transcribed 'es el que más' (in the second line of the chorus) correctly? I'm sure I haven't...

Re: 70s Series Opening Theme - Spanish Version
I really like the Spanish version. Although it doesn't have the upbeat tempo of the English and German versions I like the sense of poignancy in the tune. I always look back on that 70's series with a sense of nostalgia so the Spanish version seems just right for this.
The German audio version is a bit strange, seems like a particularly bad effort at Eurovision to me

Re: 70s Series Opening Theme - Spanish Version
Is there anyone who tried to translate in english the italian opening theme of Famous Five ?
Although I am not so skilled in English ... I could try. The lyrics in some parts is absolutely crazy and I think that the songwriter had not the slightest idea what was the plot.

And here's another one. It's the Dutch theme tune "De Vijf". Unfortunately it's not the full version:

@Lorenzo, it would be great if you could translate the Italian lyrics .

Timmy the horse? Well, why not?Moonraker wrote:How very Eurovision! Sounds like, Julian, Dick and Anne; George and Timmy the horse...
They sing "Timmy de hond" and "hond" is the Dutch word for dog.
