Sounds as if you had an amazing time, Jools!

Does anyone remember the film Our Day Out, made in the late 1970s? It was about a group of deprived schoolchildren who go on a school trip - full of humour but also quite moving in parts.

Our day Out An all time favourite of mine but alas not available on DVD but easily obtainable on Ebay. This was first broadcast in 1976 and stars a young Alun Armstrong who also appeared alongside Rupert Graves in "The Dinner".

Willy Russell, the writer of Our Day Out later went on to write One Summer which was broadcast in 1983, what a series that was! (and it's available on DVD)

So many quality dramas have been set in Liverpool, does anyone remember "Scully" and also "Boys from the Blackstuff"?

I've never seen One Summer but I love the film Educating Rita.

Jools - that was great - such talent! And the fringe is fab! :D
Do you mind me asking whether your fringe was coloured pink for the series? Or was it normal for young teenagers to have brightly coloured hair?

It was dyed pink for the part (I had a bit of trouble with the teachers at school when I went back as they objected to it!)

I was the envy of my friends however :D

And how and when did the pink come off, Jools? :)

Hope you didn't have too much trouble with the teachers.

It brought back a lot of memories of my time at secondary school. We had teachers just like that. I used to love their sarcastic humour - just the sort of humour teenagers love! Pity school's been 'dumbed down' since with all the PC teachers!

As has been said previously, the clothes, the room, the teacher, the fashions (I even remember having a girl who died her fringe pink in our class when I was about twelve!) and those old wooden desks (good lid slamming desks!!) all brought the memories back.

Good one, Jools! :D

hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'
