I've just been watching the 1970s version of Five Run Away Together on YouTube. A lot of the story was altered (it wasn't a kidnapped girl, it was an escaped convict hiding on the island). But the thing that jarred the most for me was that I was waiting for Mr Stick to be this unshaven slovenly slob - and yet he was a reasonably well-spoken and well-dressed man played by dear old Patrick Troughton!
Troughton was a fantastic actor - but the last person I'd have thought he could portray was Mr Stick! Did anyone else here notice the change of character?
Mr Stick - Patrick Troughton???
Re: Mr Stick - Patrick Troughton???
Yes. I was disgusted by it. I imagine Eastenders' Dot Cotton's husband, Charlie as Pa Stick (Christopher Hancock)
Sorry, this is a poor image, but I've tried to resize it from a tiny BBC clip.
