How do I know if I have a first edition??

Post by newtothis »

Hi
I have just inherited a stack of old Enid Blyton books, mostly famous five, but some other wishing chair etc. They all seem fairly old but I wondered how I can tell if any of them are first edition?
Hope someone can help.
Thanks for reading.

Tony Illustrated Bibliographies (available in 4 parts) should help. :D Also try checking the Cave of Books.

It usually says "First published in 1947" (for example). If it is a reprint, it will then say, "Reprinted in 1948". This should give you a guide as to whether or not they are first editions.
